2018

I haven’t had to fly for work since last May. I’ve missed the friendly folks at TSA.

My weird path to #infosec

I get my coffee, and drive to work. As I come off the elevator, they all sit in locked room on the other side of my cube wall.

I occasionally ask for things to happen and then they tell me no and think I’m going to cause the data center to burn down.

I’m so glad I bought a new bed for my 6yo’s so he can sleep on the floor of his room with the dog nearly every night since we moved in. 🤷‍♂️

Dropbox is presenting at Storage Field Day 15 and they will reveal their custom-built storage servers! techfieldday.com/event/sfd15/

Watching my 6 year old on his iPad, doing the swipe down on the key to get a number/symbol off the virtual keyboard. I never showed him this. I barely know how to do this. I asked him where he learned this. He just shrugged.

Tell me the problem you want to solve, not what you think the solution should be.

🚨 Apparently there is an awesome Clapton documentary on Showtime right now? How was I not informed of this sooner? 🚨

Just looking at the schedule for #sfd15 next week is exhausting. Going to be a busy week! techfieldday.com/event/sfd15/

Please, excuse me while I eat an entire roll of Girl Scout cookies.

I won’t be long.

The Internet is an awful place.

No, I didn’t spend my morning putting all the LEDs in my house into a big spreadsheet I can sort by style, manufacturer, light temperature, lumens, and wattage.

Did you?

Spent some time fishing and terminating cable this evening, but all my eero are on a wired backhaul now.

Also ran my HDTV antenna up into my attic. Getting things cleaned up around here.

I really need to shave.

That thing where someone says something earlier in the day, and you don’t think much about it, but then you start to replay it in your head and start to find it ridiculous and then partially infuriating.

Great thing about iMessages in the Cloud: When you delete a thread it removes it from all your devices.

Frustrating thing about iMessages in the Cloud: When you delete a thread it removes it from all your devices.

Corporate excitement: Today we got access to WebEx, as a replacement for the terrible AT&T Connect.

I’m ready for some iOS 11.3 beta updates today. Maybe to (re)fix (again) the out of order iMessages issues. Don’t let me down Apple.

I need a cigarette 🇨🇦 #VirtueAndMoir

Since my attempt to get a Mac at work failed, I’m now asking to be upgraded to Windows 10, so I can at least feel like a modern PC user, if it’s the life I must lead.

It’s Sunday night, but there is no new Star Trek Discovery, and won’t be for many months. ☹️

Keep watching women’s snowboarding, or rewatch last weekends Discovery season finale? 🤔

Driving home from Target, by myself. Brain on auto-pilot, I’m just cruising along, then finally realize I’m getting ready to turn into the driveway of the house I haven’t lived in for two weeks. 🤪

Once upon a time, I feel like I was really good at my job. Other people have thought so too. I think it was something I enjoyed.

I’d kind of been taking an unintentional break from tweeting the last couple of weeks. Life and work was way too busy and overwhelming.

Never fear though, I’m now back to annoy you, 280 characters at a time.

The total elimination of incandescent bulbs from my new house has begun. #LEDlife

“The database team is doing some purges…”

Sounds fun.

What a nice surprise, walking around new house and noticed a new box on the outside. Google Fiber has already been run to my new house. Was originally told 4 months out. Setup is next Wednesday.

We are now just tenants in our own home. Off to buy another place now.
